Two People Charged in Aurora Shooting

AURORA, MO -- Aurora police officers charge two people for the double shooting of a man and woman in front of a
Price Cutter supermarket. It happened about 6:30 P.M. Friday.

Detectives say Luke Scammell and Raven Thornton have been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and the unlawful use of a firearm. According to an arrest affidavit, the victims Johnny Ferguson and Kelsey Gunter were walking across the grocery store parking lot when the shooters drove up and opened fire. Ferguson was shot in his side and Gunter was hit in her thigh. The two were rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Investigators have not said whether the shooters had a specific motive. It's also unclear whether the victims knew the suspects. Multiple shots were fired in the shooting, and some of the bullets hit an occupied building nearby. No one else was injured.
