JOPLIN, MO.--- Two Joplin hospitals are ranked among the best in the nation. A national research corporation study has named Mercy Hospital Joplin and Freeman Hospital West as 2013-2014 Consumer Choice winners. More than 270,000 people nationwide participated in the survey in which they were asked which local health care provider they preferred. Consumers ranked the hospitals based on quality of doctors and nurses, image, reputation, and overall quality. The presidents of both Freeman and Mercy say the recognition is an honor.
"We're very thrilled that Freeman received this distinction for a lot of reasons, but the primary reason is because it was awarded by the people who matter the most, and that's our patients," said Paula Baker, Freeman Health System, President & CEO.
"It shows improvement and it shows, even in the temporary facility, as we work in this great third hospital that we've been in since the storm, it just shows improvement and it just shows tremendous focus on patients and families," said Gary Pulsipher, Mercy Hospital Joplin President.
Both hospitals share the award with 276 other hospitals across the nation.
