Tax Cuts Big Discussion For Missouri Legislators

Missouri lawmakers push to keep money in the pockets of tax payers.
JEFFERSON CITY, MO -- Missouri lawmakers push to keep money in the pockets of tax payers. Legislators have a number of items on the agenda as they had back to Jefferson City, and many are putting a tax cut at the top of the list. Some lawmakers hope to lower taxes for residents throughout the Show-Me-State. Representative Charlie Davis says cutting taxes will only help the state's economy.

"If you look at the way the tax cut works, throughout history economists will tell you if you do a tax cut, that actually increases revenue to government. Because if I keep that money in my pocket, I spend it. And then that business will spend it, and that business will spend it," said Davis.

Missouri lawmakers will discuss the issue when they head back to session Wednesday.
