A suicidal subject opens fire on Mcdonald County law enforcement.

LANAGAN, MO --- A suicidal subject opens fire on McDonald County law enforcement. Sheriff deputies, police officers and the Special Response Team went to the man's home in Lanagan early this morning to calm him down. After three hours, the Response Team entered the house to make contact with the individual.

That's when he shot at one of the team members and hit their ballistic shield. The officer returned one shot and missed. The individual then took his own life. Because gunfire was exchanged, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. The team member who fired the shot has been placed on leave until the investigation is over.
