Study Shows E-Cigarettes Popular Among Oklahoma Tees

8-percent of high school students and 3-percent of middle school students have used an e-cig.
OKLAHOMA-- A significant number of Oklahoma youth are trying electronic cigarettes- that's according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

Data collected this year shows that almost 8-percent of high school students and 3-percent of middle school students had used an e-cig 30 days before taking the survey.

National statistics show the use of e-cigs among middle school students doubled from 2011 to 2012.

Oklahoma health officials say the vapor products may negatively affect a developing brain.

There are currently no restrictions on the sale or advertising of e-cigs to minors.
