Sheriff's Office Warns Residents of Grandparent Phone Scam

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a scam that has been around for several years.
COLUMBUS, KS.--- The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a scam that has been around for several years. The Grandparent Scam is now making its way back to this area. It involves a victim being contacted by phone from a person claiming to be a grandchild. The scammer posing as the victim's grandchild will ask the grandparent to send money immediately for bail. If the money is not sent, they will go to jail. If you receive a call like this, contact your local law enforcement.
