COLUMBUS, KS.--- A new lodge in Columbus provides a rustic old look and plenty of outdoor activities. In August of 2011, Rowdy's Rustic Moose Lodge started out as a little pond.
"It started with one little stand, the deck turned into a two room cabin, and then we started the lodge. Since then, we've added an archery range and shooting stands and all kinds of things," said Delbert Rowden, Lodge Co Owner.
More than two years later on November 27th, Delbert and Sheryl Rowden opened their new lodge for business. For Delbert, this lodge is 50 years in the making.
"As a kid, I was probably 10 or 12 years old, we went to a lodge in Kansas City. It just put a big impression on me and I've always thought of that ever since then, and so really its a childhood dream coming true," said Delbert.
The Rowden's may have built for personal interest, but look forward to hosting.
"Kind of give us a way to interact with people as we grow older. Bring them here to us so we can enjoy them and they can enjoy the place," said Sheryl Rowden, Lodge Co Owner.
Delbert and Sheryl might even call this place home one day.
"We may end up living here ourselves, who knows," said Sheryl.
"I love the old fashion look. I feel like I've been very fortunate to do this and carry it out," said Delbert.
The cabins at Rowdy's Rustic Moose Lodge rent for $150 a night.
