CARTHAGE --- A Carthage citizens committee that's pushing for passage of a Use Tax has scheduled a question and answer session, which will be open to the public. The Chamber of Commerce and City Officials will be at the Middle School tomorrow evening at 7 for the meeting. Joplin, Carthage, Webb city, and Carl Junction city leaders will each ask voters to approve use taxes on the November ballot. Officials emphasize that the tax isn't new, but rather replaces the out-of-state sales tax that is already in place.
They add approving the Use Tax will help local businesses stay competitive with companies across state lines, support local jobs, and help reinvest tax dollars in the community.
