JOPLIN, MO.--- It's never to early to get your car ready for the ever changing weather of the Four States. It may be October 1st, but winter is right around the corner. Jon Sullivan works at Ivy's Service Center in Joplin. He says preventive maintenance can help save you hundreds on repair bills down the line. He says it's important to check your car for anti-freeze and make sure it's topped up before the temperature drops. It's also important to check the tread on your tires and get regular oil changes.
"People have in mind, out of sight out of mind. You don't have to worry about it. If you break a belt going down the road, and now a days you have a serpentine belt, one belt that runs the entire system," said Jon Sullivan, Ivy's Service Center.
Sullivan says the costly bills could add up even higher if you have to call a tow truck and a mechanic on a weekend or holiday.
