PITTSBURG, KS.--- Pittsburg State University is making sure students and their wireless devices are ready for classes next week. On Monday, more than 7,000 students will return for the spring semester. According to Chief Information Officer Angela Neria, students always come back from winter break with more electronics, probably gifts from the holidays. Over the holiday break, her office has replaced 140 access points for wireless internet and increased their strength to handle three to four times the capacity.
"Many of our students have three devices that they might be carrying around or have in their dorm room that all access the wireless. So, it's really important for us to have plenty of capacity for them," said Angela Neria, PSU Chief Information Officer.
Over the last three semesters, there has been a 63% increase in the use of electronics on campus.
