PITTSBURG, KS.--- More than 400 Southeast Kansas high school students gather at Pittsburg State University for Art Day. The entire day was dedicated to the appreciation of art. 28 high schools brought various works of art to PSU's Student Center. There were a number of exhibits and competitions for the students. In one of them, students were required to make a creation from recyclable materials.
"The purpose of today is to get kids thinking creatively. While not all 428 students are going to be artists, they are definitely going to be needing to use creative thinking skills in any career that they go into," said Rhona Shand, PSU Department of Art.
The high school students were also able to interact with college art majors and talk with professional artists about their careers.
