GIRARD, KS.--- A Pittsburg man has been arrested after fleeing deputies. The incident happened on Sunday where a Crawford County deputy attempted to stop the man in the area of 570th Avenue and 190th Street, just northwest of Pittsburg. The man attempted to flee the deputy by driving through two stop signs. The deputy was able to track the vehicle in the area of US 69 Highway and 570th Avenue.
Authorities found the driver in a pond where he jumped into in an attempt to escape from the deputies. The driver, Jason Rakestraw, 32, was then taken into custody. He is facing eight charges including warrant for probation violation and reckless driving. His bond total is $6,500. Rakestraw's passenger was also taken into custody. She is charged with obstruction with a law enforcement officer.
