PITTSBURG, KS.--- The City of Pittsburg is preparing for a million dollar face lift. The Chamber of Commerce is helping provide downtown business owners with the opportunity to remodel their buildings. The Facade Grant provides funding through the Chamber of Commerce. If their remodeling project is chosen, the City of Pittsburg will match the private investment of the business owners. Last week they raised $100,000 dollars, bringing the project's grand total to $1 million.
"Your downtown makes your community unique. It often has a lot of stores that aren't available in other communities. Has a lot of historical buildings, those are great, but a lot of times those come with additional costs. It's really just the city's way of saying thank you to those property owners," said Blake Benson, Chamber of Commerce President.
This is phase three of the Beautification Project.
