PARSONS, KS.--- The City of Parsons will increase its sales tax starting January 1st. Back in September, residents of Parsons voted for the half-cent tax hike. The change will raise the current sales tax from 8.4% to 8.9%. City leaders are expecting the tax to generate $8 million during a 10 year span. The money will help buy equipment for both the fire and police departments. After 10 years, the tax will expire.
