PITTSBURG, KS.--- Fire officials say one person is dead after an overnight fire in Pittsburg. It started this morning around 1:30 at 1112 East 7th Street. The cause of fire is currently under investigation. Authorities say a male was inside the home and died. The Kansas State Fire Marshal's Office, the Pittsburg Fire Department and the Pittsburg Police Department are all looking into the incident.
"There was visible flames when we showed up on scene. Currently, it's under investigation from the State's Fire Marshall Office, as well as Pittsburg Police Department and our office as well," said Mike Simons, Pittsburg Fire Department.
The body has been sent to Topeka for an autopsy. Chief Simons says at this time, the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
Another non-related house fire occurred in Pittsburg at 9:17 this morning. The fire happened at 404 West Forest Street. It was an electrical fire, which took place in the attic. The Pittsburg Fire Department reported there was no structural damage and the family got out in time with no fatalities.
