Nixa Contractor Pleads Guilty to Scamming Elderly Couple

Terry Parker pleaded guilty to bank fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering.
JOPLIN, MO--- Terry Parker, 58, pleaded guilty to bank fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. Parker operated Alliance Contracting in Nixa. He was hired by an elderly couple in Joplin to repair their house following the May 2011 tornado. Parker stole a check from the couple, forged the husband's signature and wrote himself a check for more than $38,000. Parker also convinced the couple to create an online banking account, where he was able to transfer around $32,000 of their money to his own PayPal account.

He is subject to a sentence of up to 70 years in federal prison without parole, plus a fine of more than one million dollars. A sentencing hearing has not yet been selected.
