NEOSHO, MO.--- Newton County kicks off its 26th Annual Food Basket Brigade today. The fundraiser starts off with a $4,100 donation. The goal is to provide 120,000 pounds of food to 1,200 local families. Cash donations are being accepted to help purchase a variety of perishable food items.
"The people in this community, oh my gosh, and the way the economy is, they just dig deep into their pockets and take care of everybody and it's very much appreciated," said Terry Cook, Food Basket Brigade Chairman.
The distribution of the food will take place on December 21st at the Old Mill Park Center in Neosho.
