JOPLIN, MO.--- When the clock strikes midnight, the champagne is popped and everyone is celebrating the New Year.
"We have party favors, champagne at midnight, dance floor, it's just a fun night! We do the balloon drop at midnight," said Linda Williams, 609 Owner.
It's important to remember safety when it comes to your New Year's Eve celebrations. If you're going out, make sure to plan ahead and take precautions.
"Have a designated driver, make arrangements for a car or taxi or something, but don't drive. It's not a goodnight to drive," said Williams.
According to Missouri Highway Patrol, there were 64 drunk driving related crashes last year on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. That number is actually lower than past years. Most bars offer free cab services to their customers so they can bring in the New Year and make it home safe.
"We do offer free taxi rides. Budweiser gives us little coupons that they can use to get a free taxi ride if they are here. That way they don't have to worry about driving," said Mike Pease, Buffalo Wild Wings Manager.
After all the precautions are arranged, you can have peace of mind ringing in the New Year.
"Just have fun! We always like to have fun while we are here. The servers always like joking around and having fun while they are here. With all the TVs and the games on, it's a good atmosphere to have," said Pease.
