LAMAR, MO.--- New details are released today in the investigation of the death of Adriaunna Horton, 12, of Golden City. Additional charges have been filed against Bobby Bourne, 34. Bourne has been charged with child kidnapping, forceable rape, statutory rape in the first degree and murder in the first degree. The press conference got underway just after 1:30 this afternoon, with Barton County Sheriff Mitchell Shaw thanking all of the agencies and volunteers that assisted in the search for Adriaunna.
Shaw says roughly 100 officers, 500 search and rescue personnel and 250 community members aided in the search. Around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, a body was found in rural Dade County, southeast of Golden City, where Adriaunna lived with her family. DNA analysis has confirmed it is Adriaunna. Bobby Bourne of Lockwood was arrested and charged with her kidnapping.
"It's a very heartbreaking situation, not just for the family, but the community. It's a tight-knit community and it's hard for the department because several officers knew the girl and the family," said Mitch Shaw, Barton County Sheriff.
Late last night Bourne was transported to the Jasper County Jail for holding. Shaw says that's primarily because his jail is a smaller facility. We were told that Bourne is expected to appear in court on Monday at 2 p.m. This has been a very emotional week, for the entire community and those working the case. Sheriff Shaw told us his officers have known Adriaunna's family, and obviously this was not the outcome they had hoped for.
