(NEVADA, MO) -- A Nevada High School sophomore uses her experience with cancer to help write an award-winning speech.

Her speech won first place in Nevada's Rotary Club competition.

But Kelsey Hammontree's words are filled with more than just passion, it's based on her experience.

At five-years-old Kelsey was diagnosed with a rare-soft tissue cancer.

She is now cancer-free. But still suffers from side effects.

Kelsey says her limitations won't stop her from bringing awareness to childhood cancer through her Rotary Club speech.
