NEOSHO, MO.--- The City of Neosho dedicates a new Christmas tree. City leaders gathered in Big Spring Park to welcome the new evergreen. The young norway spruce was donated by Leadership Neosho. Group members felt it was important to help continue the town's tradition of an annual tree lighting ceremony during Christmas time. The tree previously used for the ceremony had to be cut down after last year's severe drought.
"We made a promise to the citizens we'd continue that tradition, so getting a tree planted, getting it ready for this year so we could do it this year was very important," said Troy Royer, Neosho City Manager.
"We just took this on as our project so we could give back to the community. Watch the tree grow as our city has grown and hopefully it will be resilient just as our city has been," said Jason Poe, Leadership Neosho.
Leadership Neosho also donated a plaque to the park, engraved on it is a quote describing the attributes of a good leader. Neosho's tree lighting ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 5th at 6th in the evening at Big Spring Park.
