NEOSHO, MO.--- This morning, the Neosho City Council initially approved an ordinance to undo the councils action last year of ending a cooperative agreement between the city and the Neosho Transportation Development District. The TDD began collecting a half cent sales tax in January of 2012 at businesses located in the transportation district on Highway 60.
The city council rescinded the cooperative agreement last year when the city was involved in legal challenges to the TDD's validity. On Tuesday, the Neosho City Council told City Attorney Steve Hays to prepare a bill to undo the councils action, which would put the city back in agreement with the TDD. The bill received initial approval today, the 2nd and 3rd readings will take place a week from Tuesday at the city council meeting in Neosho.
