Neosho City Council Election Deadline

Neosho residents have just one more week to run for a city council position.
NEOSHO---This election voters will be deciding on three council members. There are two positions for three years and one position for one year. This is the first Neosho election with more than two vacant spots due to Chris Wright's resignation and Heather Bowers' forfeited position. There are five council members total... meaning new members could gain control of the majority vote. City code prohibits this from normally happening but this year officials have no choice. Residents seeking a position can stop by city hall and speak with city clerk Nora Houdyshell.
From there, they will have to have a petition signed by 35 registered voters in Neosho.  Council members must have all of their taxes paid, have lived in the city for at least one year, and be 21-years or older. City officials say candidates should be willing to donate a lot of their time. Candidates must have their petition turned in by next Tuesday at 5 P.M. It will then be verified by the county. Voters will go to the polls on April 3rd and chosen council members will be sworn in that night.
