JOPLIN, MO.--- Local students talked to businesses today about volunteer opportunities in the area. Missouri Southern State University hosted its first Spring Volunteer Fair. 30 businesses from around Southwest Missouri passed out information to students and community members about volunteer opportunities. One student says she grew up in a town that was big on volunteering and it's a great way to give back.
"It makes me feel good when I'm helping someone who needs the help. That's mean personally, but I know that my volunteering helps more than just me. It's more along the lines of when you need something and someone is going to willingly give it to you, it makes your day ten times better," said Chelsea Skaggs, MSSU Junior.
The Spring Volunteer Fair is part of Missouri Southern's Martin Luther King Junior's Day of Service Community Program.
