Students are lacing up their walking shoes to get fit. October is National Walking Month. Officials at Missouri Southern State University are celebrating by encouraging students to walk more than drive. Organizers are urging people to pick up a map that shows the walking trails on campus.
"Yeah, it's great. If you can, just 20 minutes a day is going to be helpful to you. You don't have to be able to run a marathon to reap some of the benefits of getting up and moving. Be out and about," says Heather Arnold from MSSU.
Some of the benefits of walking include lowering your risk of heart disease and blood pressure and it also helps reduce stress.
