JOPLIN, MO.--- After nearly a month off for break, students have returned for the spring semester at an area university. Today marks the first day of classes at Missouri Southern State University. Many of the students were happy they didn't have to walk in several inches of snow on their first day back.
The Student Activities Board has several events planned this week to get students into the routine of coming back to class. Those include free donuts and coffee on Tuesday morning. Also, booths will be setup this week to let the students learn about the different groups they can join. Organizers say they want the school to be a place of fun.
"We have such a large commuter base. We want to give the students a reason to come back to campus other than classwork," said Landon Adams, MSSU Student Activities.
The spring semester will end on May 9th.
