Missouri Appeals Court Rules Carthage Couple Will Keep Adoptive Son

Seth and Melinda Moser will keep their adoptive son 6 year old Carlos.
CARTHAGE, MO--- Seth and Melinda Moser adopted 6 year-old Carlos Jamieson back in 2007 when he was just 11 months old. The boy's mother, Encarnacion Romero, lost custody of her child after she was arrested at a local poultry plant and was deported to Guatemala. The Moser's legally adopted Carlos, but his mother appealed saying she didn't terminate her paternal rights.

Last year, a Greene County judge ruled in favor of the adoptive parents. Romero's lawyers argued language and cultural differences hurt her case and they appealed the decision. The appeal court ruled Romero lost her paternal rights when she was deported from the U.S., leaving her son behind.
