Missouri Amber Alert Program Begins Its Second Decade

Authorities say Missouri issues about five or six alerts in a year on average.
MISSOURI--- Seven years after Texas instituted the nation's first Amber Alert in 1996, it was established in Missouri. The emergency program is for children 17 and younger who are believed to be kidnapped with threat of serious harm. An Amber Alert uses radio broadcasts, electronic transportation signs and social media to alert the public.
