FRANKLIN, KS.--- The Miners Hall Museum in Franklin named its first executive director today. Sally York was introduced today in front of state and county administrators. The new executive director plans include having more outreach programs for schools, more public programming, and to expand the museum. York says the museum has had more than 15,000 visitors since its opening, and she hopes to help continue the museum success in tourism, education and historic preservation for Southeast Kansas.
"I feel like it's an opportunity to really expand on what we have been doing and show what we can do for the community here. Be a larger part of the culture community of Southeast Kansas that's been growing rapidly for the last couple years," said Sally York, Executive Director, Miners Hall Museum.
Miners Hall Museum has been open since May 2012.
