MIAMI, OK.--- The City of Miami makes some leadership changes during its city council meeting today. Members approved a new contract for Police Chief George Haralson. Haralson started serving as chief two years ago, but left back in August to pursue other opportunities. When those didn't work out, Haralson agreed to stay on with the Miami Police Department.
Under the city charter, he will remain in the position for a year and then council members will have to reapprove his contract. Also at tonight's meeting, council members swore in Kristi Mcclain. She was nominated by Mayor Rudy Schultz to replace him in Ward 1. Schultz took over the unexpired term of Mayor Kent Ketchum, who passed away back in August. Both Schultz and McClain's terms expire in April.
