JOPLIN, MO.--- Mercy Hospital Joplin receives an honorary award. Mercy was awarded the Action Registry GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2013. This award recognizes Mercy Joplin's commitment and success in giving a higher standard of care for heart attack patients.
It also signifies that the hospital has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care. As outlined by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association's clinical guidelines and recommendations. Mercy Joplin held an awards ceremony and recognition reception today at the hospital.
"We're really excited because we think its good for our community, because they're getting the care that they deserve and they need after their heart attack," said Rita Stiles, STEMI Program Coordinator.
Mercy Joplin was able to maintain the guidelines to receive the award before, during, and after the 2011 tornado.
