VERNON COUNTY, MO.--- A man wanted for a felony warrant is behind bars after an undercover Vernon County deputy tracks him down. Dustin Jones is currently being held in the Vernon County Jail. An undercover deputy acting as a person from Joplin contacted Jones about a truck he was selling on the internet. They met at a location in the Richards area where the deputy verified Jones' identity.
When multiple sheriff's vehicles pulled up, Jones tried to run away, but was apprehended shortly after. Once in custody, deputies found drug paraphernalia and a small bag of crystal meth on Jones. The sheriff's office plans to submit charges of resisting arrest, assault on a law enforcement officer and possession of a controlled substance.
