Man Struck By Vehicle While Crossing the Highway

As Louis Nicoletti crossed the highway to inspect the deer his wife hit, he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
COLUMBUS, KS--- After 6 p.m. Tuesday, Mona Nicoletti, 86, of Columbus, struck a deer three miles east of Columbus. Her husband, Louis Nicoletti, 90, was a passenger. Neither were injured. As Louis crossed the highway to inspect the deer, he was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Rosemary Pilar, 63, of Columbus. Louis was transported by Cherokee County EMS to Freeman where he was later pronounced dead.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
