Lylahpalooza Benefits Sick Baby

Hundreds of Southeastern Kansas community members gather to help a Pittsburg baby overcome all odds.

GIRARD --- Friends and family of 1 year old Delylah Harris flooded the Crawford County Fairgrounds raising money for Lylahpalooza.

Baby Delylah was born last September with a missing pulmonary valve. She has spent roughly six months at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City during the past year, has had two open heart surgeries, and is now on ventilator support. Today's event featured music, a silent auction, and family activities to help the Harris family with medical costs.

"We're just in awe of how much people have done for the event and the people who have come out and supported that event. So we just want to say thank you to our community," says Leslie Harris, mother of Delylah.

Harris's daughter will remain at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City throughout the next few weeks. Her family hopes to bring her home sometime in mid-October.
