Lafayette House Celebrates Its 35th Anniversary

The house has been serving as a safe haven for victims to domestic violence since 1978.
JOPLIN, MO--- The house has been serving as a safe haven for victims to domestic violence since 1978. The organization serves about 1500 individuals per year. Volunteers offers services for sexual assault victims and those seeking substance abuse treatment.

"It's not about 1,700 people this year or how many thousands of children that year, it's about individuals and being there for individuals.", says Lafayette House Executive Director Allison Malinowski.

Mayor Melodee Colbert-Kean presented a proclamation to the organization, declaring it "Domestic Violence Awareness Month" in Joplin.
