Kansas Lawmakers Push Expansion of Busy Highway

Kansas legislators push for the expansion of a busy highway.
CHEROKEE COUNTY, KS -- Kansas legislators push for the expansion of a busy highway. Lawmakers want to expand part of Highway 69 from two lanes to four. The expansion would run from Fort Scott to Arma. A plan is already in the works for construction to begin in 2017, but some legislators say that's not soon enough.

"Transportation is very important. There are a lot of businesses that come to the area, and they like what we have to offer. They like the community, but they need access to a four-lane highway," said Jacob LaTurner, Kansas Senator.

This is just one of the many topics that will be addressed as lawmakers head back to Topeka.
