JOPLIN, MO.--- A city project will spruce up some of the old light fixtures around town. The Joplin City Council approved spending $28,000 to paint 66 street lights around town. 26 of those are located in five downtown parking lots, while the remaining light poles are scattered throughout residential neighborhoods. The original bid process last April brought in just one bid of $126,000. A second attempt to attract more interest and a lower bid means the work will now cost the city $28,000.
