Joplin Schools Raise Money For Archery Team With Unique Event

A local school uses bows and arrows to raise money for a new program.
JOPLIN, MO -- A local school uses bows and arrows to raise money for a new program. Dozens of people participated in a 3D archery tournament this afternoon at Memorial Hall. Kids who didn't compete learned how to shoot at a target at a station set up on the side of the arena. The event was hosted by Joplin High School to help raise money for the new archery team.

"It's more than just shooting and archery. That's certainly a benefit to it, but more important to us is to keep kids in school," said Adam Bell, Joplin High School Archery Coach.

Teachers say involvement in extra-curricular activities like archery helps with the ultimate goal of keeping kids in class.
