The Joplin schools assistant superintendent says they intend on having the students from Irving Elementary as well as Soaring Heights and East Middle School, in the new buildings on January 6th. She also says the safe room construction at the school buildings are on track as well.
"We are hopeful we can have as many of them completed as soon as possible before storm season, that's our goal obviously. It's a matter of biding and construction and getting things moved through, but we are doing really well and we anticipate that we are right on track," said Dr. Angie Besendorfer, Assistant Superintendent, Joplin School District.
Joplin High School is still expected to open on schedule in August of 2014.
