JOPLIN, MO.--- The Salvation Army has started stocking its Christmas headquarters for the season. The Joplin Salvation Army has been donated a building on Wall Street from a local business man. The building is 25,000 square feet and will be used as a Christmas headquarters. It will house food and toy donations. Last year, the group helped more than 1,500 people. They rely on food and toy donations to make each holiday season a success.
"Those families that can't afford it, those that just can't scrape the money together so that their family has a Christmas. We want to make sure they're taken care of. This gives them the opportunity to have food for the entire Christmas Day with leftovers," said Lt. Jamie Curry, Salvation Army.
If you would like to donate food or toys, you can call 417-624-4528. The new headquarters is at 1201 Wall Street in Joplin, it will be staffed for the month of December. Before then, you can drop off toys and food at their regular headquarters at 320 E. 8th Street in Joplin.
