JOPLIN, MO.--- A powerful military memorial was put on display today at the Joplin ninth and tenth campus. It is a traveling picture display called "Remembering Our Fallen." It showcases Missouri military service members who have died since 9/11, including some from Joplin. The display was created by Patriotic Productions, a Nebraska couple who has four son's in the military. The instructor who setup the display says it is a way to show the service members will never be forgotten. Also, it teaches the students about the War on Terrorism.
"Students come into this not really knowing what it's all about, but they leave with a deeper understanding what the ultimate sacrifice for your community," said Sgt. Richard Banks, JROTC Instructor.
"It's really an eye opener, and how many things we take for granted here and the actual cost and prices to have the things we have, and the things we take for granted daily," said Thomas Scheuerman, Joplin High School Student.
The memorial will be on display tomorrow and Thursday from 3:30 until 5 p.m. at the Joplin ninth and tenth campus in the auditorium. All of the public is welcome.
