JOPLIN, MO.--- A record number of animals found homes this weekend. The Joplin Humane Society emptied half of their kennels over the weekend, which has never happened in their new facility. A record 24 adoptions occurred and more than 40 animals went to other shelters across the country that are in short supply. Organizers says it's awesome to help find so many animals homes
"To actually be able to say we have half of our kennels open. That is a huge accomplishment and we couldn't do it without the support of the public," said Lysa Boston, Shelter Manager.
There are still dozens of other animals that weren't so lucky, and are still needing homes.
