Joplin City Workers To Clean Up Broken Tree Limbs

Joplin city workers are still picking up broken tree limbs from the ice storm a few weeks ago.
JOPLIN, MO -- Joplin city workers are still picking up broken tree limbs from the ice storm a few weeks ago. This week's snow storm caused a slight delay in the process. Officials say the same crews that pick up broken limbs also treat roads during winter weather, and they have to make safety a top priority. Now that the streets are safe again, they'll be out picking up the larger limbs from residents curbs.

"As long as they bring them out to the front of their property next to the road, our crews, that gives us a chance - and we're talking about the large limbs, so things that citizens can't normally lift," said Lynden Lawson, Joplin Assistant Director of Public Works.

To make city clean-up more efficient, residents are asked to cut the limbs to a maximum of eight feet and place them at the curb. After that, call 624-0820, ext. 564 so workers can come remove the debris.
