JOPLIN, MO.--- Joplin city leaders are helping history come alive for the holidays. Earlier this evening, city leaders unveiled this year's window displays at city hall. The main theme behind this year's display is Barbie. "The Wonderful World of Barbie" will give visitors the chance to see the iconic doll and how she's changed since being introduced in 1959. Other windows will focus on Joplin's mining history, holiday times in a home setting, outdoor park and reindeer scene.
"We love it, we just love doing this. The families are here for Thanksgiving, the holiday, they can come down and view the windows, they're open at night and it gives them something to do," said Barbra Hogelin, Joplin City Clerk.
The Joplin Model Railroad Club has also provided a model train for a window display at 6th and Main Street.
