Joplin City Chaplain Recognized for Years of Service

Joplin City Council members recognized Pastor Tim Sumners with a plaque for his years of service and contributions to the city.
JOPLIN, MO.--- The Joplin city chaplain received a surprise award tonight at the city council meeting. A resolution to honor Pastor Tim Sumners unanimously passed tonight. Joplin council recognized Sumners with a plaque for his years of service and contributions to the city. In addition, he was surprised with a key to the City of Joplin by Mayor Melodee Colbert-Kean. Sumners admits the job hasn't always been easy.

"It's more difficult now than it ever has been, but I still have a heart for doing it and a love for doing it. Love just being around the people of the police department, fire department because they're great people," said Pastor Tim Sumners, Joplin City Chaplain. 

Sumners says he has no plans to retire anytime soon.
