Joplin Car Accident Kills One Person, Injures another

A car accident in Joplin claims the life of one teen and leaves another critically injured.

JOPLIN --- Just after 6:00am this morning police responded to a crash on 20th Street and Roosevelt. They found a 2004 Nissan Frontier lodged under a parked trailer. Police say the pick-up was traveling west bound on 20th when it went of the road and crashed into the trailer. 19 year-old passenger Tyler Bower died at the scene. His younger brother, 17 year-old Eric Bower, who was driving the car, is in critical condition at Freeman West.

"The Joplin Police Department's Major Crash Team are still investigating this crash, doing a reconstructional crash to try to determine what happened prior to the crash leading up to it," says Cpl. Dan Haskins, Joplin Police Department.

The teens' mother tells us Eric broke every bone in his face, broke both arms, has a skull fracture and a collapsed lung. He's scheduled for his first surgery on Tuesday.
