It's Not Too Late for the Flu Vaccine

Peak season for the virus is early to mid January.
JOPLIN, MO-- Doctors remind you it's not too late to get the flu vaccine.

Physicians with Mercy Hospital say the flu is barely making it's way to the four state area.

Peak season for the virus is early to mid January.

Doctors advise everyone at least 6 months of age to get the flu shot or flu mist, especially those under 5 and over 65.

"You can't actually get the flu from the vaccine but you body will recognize it if your exposed to the flu it prevents you from getting it," says Mercy Physician Dr. Thomas Hamilton.

The vaccine protects against two strains of the virus- Influenza "A" and Influenza "B."
