History of Jasper County Rural Schools Book Release

The publisher says the book should be available online in about a week, and available in print about a week later.
CARTHAGE, MO.--- A book will soon be released that highlights the history of Jasper County schools. Helen Hunter and Steve Weldon presented the new book "Echoes of School Bells, History of Jasper County Rural Schools" to the commission today. Hunter says it covers the period from the conception of Jasper County to about the early 70's when most of the rural schools closed. The book also shares stories from people who went to those rural schools. Hunter says it's important for residents to understand what went on during that time.

"It's really hard to understand what went on back there without setting down and reading their stories and reading what they remember. I think it's very important to their families to understand what they went through," said Helen Hunter, Author "Echoes of School Bells"

The publisher says the book should be available online in about a week, and available in print about a week later.
