Hardware Stores See Winter Supply Sales Increase

The first big winter storm headed our way is causing supplies to fly off the shelves of local hardware stores.
JOPLIN, MO.--- The first big winter storm headed our way is causing supplies to fly off the shelves of local hardware stores. Representatives with Lowe's say ice melt and generators are in demand as people prepare for the wintry weather. In fact, there were just a few generators left on the shelves this afternoon. Workers say you should always prepare for the worst case scenario.

"You really don't know what's going to happen with the weather until it happens, so it's good to be prepared. Today is a nice day, so if you have time go out and grab some supplies, just in case in the morning when you wake up and can't get out, at least you'll have it with you and be ready," said Michael Gage, Lowe's Assistant Manager.

Another item that's selling quickly, heat lamps. Workers say these are good for keeping pets warm.
