Gregory Weiler Found Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity.

A judge has found an Illinois man accused of plotting to bomb dozens of Ottawa County churches not guilty by reason of insanity.
MIAMI, OK- A bench trial for Gregory Weiler, 25, was held Friday morning. The judge ruled at the time of the October 2012 incident that Weiler suffered from mental illness and was insane. Weiler has been sent to a mental institution. He will be re-evaluated in 40 days. At that time a judge will decide if he should be kept in the institution or if he will be allowed to go free. This comes just days after a different judge ruled Weiler was competent enough to stand trial.

Authorities arrested Weiler in October 2012 after linking him to 52 homemade firebombs found outside the Legacy Inn in Miami. They also found a journal detailing Weiler's plan to destroy 48 churches and religious buildings in Miami and 4 more in other parts of Ottawa County.
